➁ O corpo de exército de fogo de Naka Ward, protegendo aqueles perto de você!
Members of the fire corps protect the community from disasters such as fires, windstorms, and floods. They have regular jobs, are college students and do housework, just like the rest of us. However, in the event of an emergency, they serve as disaster prevention leaders in their communities.
Naka Ward é uma área vibrante com muitos negócios e facilidades comerciais, bem como uma comunidade multicultural com a maior população de residentes não-japoneses entre 18 alas de Yokohama. Fire corps are groups of people living and working in Naka Ward who work together to protect our community and its residents. So why not join us?
About the fire corps
Q: What is the difference between firefighters and members of the fire corps?
A: Firefighters are local public servants who are engaged in disaster rescue and first-aid activities as their profession, while members of the fire corps are part-time special local public servants who respond to disasters and educate the community about disaster prevention while having a separate day job.
Q: Do I need special qualifications or experience to join the fire corps?
A: No special qualifications or experience are required. Anyone who lives, works, or attends school in the city, is 18 years of age or older, and is healthy and motivated is welcome to join.
Non-Japanese residents are also welcome (subject to certain conditions).
Activities of the fire corps
・In the event of a fire, windstorm, flood, earthquake, or other disaster, the fire corps cooperates with the fire department to carry out firefighting activities and play the role of community disaster prevention leaders!
・The fire corps also contributes to the safety and security of the local community by keeping watch at events held in the ward and conducting educational activities to promote CPR!
Comments from fire corps members

・Is the training tough?
→ Everyone is kind to me and I enjoy it because I learn a lot.
・Is it difficult to balance your firefighting activities with your family and work?
→ I would like to continue to do what I can, little by little, while taking care of my family and work.
・In what ways do you find it rewarding?
→ I am always helped by the people around me, so I am happy to be able to give back to everyone, even if only a little, through the activities of the fire corps.
