Vamos ver monumentos em parques!

In Naka Ward, there are many parks with monuments that tell the history of Yokohama. So take a stroll around town and see if you can find them!

Yokohamart Opening Memorial Park (1 Yamashitacho)

This park is named after the opening of the Port of Yokohama. In the park, there is a monument commemorating the fact that Yokohama was the site of the signing of the Japan-US Treaty of Peace and Amity in 1854, an important event which led to Japan opening up to the outside world. There are also the remains of a brick manhole and sewer system, which are registered tangible cultural properties, as well as the remains of a cannon at Settlement No. 90.

Motomachi Hyakudan Park (56-1 Yamatecho)

The highlight of the park is its large single cherry tree and view from inside the park. The park gets its name from a set of steps that collapsed here during the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. There is a monument in the park that tells the history of these steps.
