Wind and flood damage caused by heavy rains and tornadoes are especially common in September. Even if you have not suffered major damage before from such disasters, you must not let your guard down. By thinking about what you need and how you should act in the event of wind and flood damage and being prepared, you can limit the extent of damage if the worst should happen.
■Step 1: Make sure you know where to obtain disaster information
●Marine FM (86.1MHz)
This is a community radio station in Naka Ward. In the event of a disaster, you can listen to detailed information on impact on the ward.

●Yokohama-shi Hinan Nabi (Yokohama City Evacuation Navigator)
This is a disaster preparedness app for Yokohama City. In addition to information on disaster preparedness, you can check various evacuation sites and hazard maps in the event of a disaster, and create your own evacuation plan (My Timeline).

■Step 2: Know how to act in the event you need to evacuate
A hazard map is a colored map of areas at high risk of landslides and flooding. People living in the colored areas on the map may need to evacuate their homes depending on the warning level. Even if you live in an area that is not colored on the map, be sure to check the disaster and evacuation information without fail!

●What are alert levels?
Alert levels provide easy-to-understand information on evacuation procedures and when to evacuate in the event of wind and flood damage. When wind or flood damage occurs, check which areas have been issued evacuation information and start taking steps to evacuate as necessary.
■Step 3: Familiarize yourself with the evacuation sites that will be opened in the event of heavy rain or typhoons
When heavy rains or typhoons cause extensive damage in the ward, evacuation sites will be opened according to the disaster situation. Please check Yokohama City Evacuation Navigator and the Naka Ward website for information on evacuation sites to be opened.
If a sediment disaster warning is issued for the southern part of Yokohama City, the following five evacuation sites will be opened.
●Mugita Seifuso (1-26-1 Mugita-cho)
●Yamamoto Elementary School (3-152 Yamamoto-cho)
● Ōtori escola elementar (1-251 Honmoku-cho)
